18 Days

We will try and get to Madrid in just 18 days. Crazy, right?

Over 1,000 miles

From Cardiff to Poole, from Cherbourg to Hossegor and from Elgorriaga to Madrid

3 Countries

United Kingdom, France and Spain. Let's prove when it comes down to Solidarity, there is no borders.

OUR GOAL

We intend to leave Cardiff on the 20th of July, and ride all the way through South Wales, England, France and Spain to Madrid to raise money for three different Charities that help people with Autism. All funds will be given to Autism Puzzles (UK) and Grupo AMAS (Spain). We are still trying to find one Charity in France to spread the love in all three countries we will be travelling through

Hours on the bikes

Why are we doing it?

Two years ago, I was a very depressed person. Very. By that point, I had been in the UK for nearly 4 years, and although I consider myself a very fortunate person, with a beautiful family and very lovable friends, I couldn’t help feeling that my work life was poisoning my personal one.

When I came back to live in Cardiff again, I began working as a waiter in a hotel. I made my way up through various positions to my last one as a Front of House Assistant Manager, in a private small Hotel.

It didn’t feel right though. Don’t get me wrong, there was times I had fun, I met some of my best friends in those jobs and also met other people who made it worthwhile until it was time for everyone to move on, but at the end of the day, I felt I didn’t come to this world to work in a hotel, there was something missing.

One of this friends I just mentioned and myself found a job advert for a position in care looking after people with Autistic Spectrum Condition. I will not lie, it was not what I had in mind, but I thought I would do a bit of research and perhaps give it a go. I read lots, and I became instantly very intrigued as I realized I did not know anything about such condition.

A month later, I was doing the training and three weeks after that my journey began. In this time I have met, for sure, the most fascinating people you could ever imagine. As in life, some of them have moved on and I will very unlikely see again, but some other have become such an important part of my life that I would find extremely hard not to say impossible to do anything else for a living.

All this benefit these guys brought to my life made me feel in debt, so I thought I should challenge myself extremely (I have learnt how to beat challenges from the very best) and try and repay some of that goodness by raising funds to help families and individuals.

As this is an extreme challenge, and we can all use a bit of support to endure difficulties, one of my best friends, Monkey, who is one of the most wonderful human beings in the world, will join me in this mad trip.

Are you with us?

Sponsor the Riders

£1.00

Help Blue Rides achieve the impossible. We will have to take a couple of ferries, buy food, use campings and hostels every few days, buy gear, plane tickets and bike postage. We are more than willing to put do it all, however, if you'd like to make our challenge a little less challenging, you can spare £1 for the project. All unused funds will be given to the charities.
